Description
Tractor Tools Direct is proud to offer the Abbriata line of square balers. These are heavy duty machines that can be operated by your existing 20+ horsepower compact tractor.
Square balers give you the highest production rate because you never have to stop to tie a bale as you would with a round baler. The machine continuously ties and drops the bales out the back. And while traditional square balers require a tractor of 40 horsepower or more, Abbriata has changed the design slightly to allow you to bale with a tractor as small as 20 horsepower. Though the design is very similar to the original International Harvester design still in use by most manufacturers, it differs in a few important ways. Aside from the width of the pickup, these balers make a slightly smaller bale (hardly noticeable to most people). The plunger compresses the hay with more strokes per minute, meaning less hay is compressed with each stroke, allowing operation with less horsepower.
Abbriata has been in business for over 100 years and was the first company in Europe to develop both the mini round baler and the square baler. They make a commercial-duty, reliable machines that will give you years of trouble-free service.

FAQ
What is the size of the bale that this makes?
The bale chamber is 13.5 x 17.5 inches. You can make a bale as short as 16 inches or as long as 51 inches. These parameters will make a bale that weighs anywhere between 35-55 pounds depending on moisture content and material type.
Why does this baler cost so much more than a TX31 mini round baler?
Square balers are significantly larger machines with more moving parts compared to the TX31 mini round baler. However, they have a much higher output efficiency, achieving almost four (4) times the bale production rate of the TX31. The cost to ship a square baler is also higher than it is with a mini round baler because it carries a larger footprint and cannot be shipped in a standard semi truck.
Does it come assembled?
Yes! This baler comes fully assembled and ready to bale upon arrival. We highly recommend taking a close look at the machine to make sure everything is ready to go just as you will do when you go out to bale in the future. This is a great habit to make sure everything is set up properly and that you have a smooth baling process. We also recommend giving us a call to talk through your new machine to ensure you have a great first experience with it.
How do I hitch it up to my tractor?
We recommend connecting it to the rear drawbar of your tractor using a hammer strap attachment (also called a drawbar clevis, shown below). If your tractor doesn’t have a rear drawbar, consult with your tractor dealer or do an online search for one. A hammer strap is an attachment that connects to the drawbar to convert it to a Y configuration. That the donut-shaped end of the baler’s drawbar can be placed between the forks of the Y and secured with a hitch pin.

How much maintenance is required?
Preventative maintenance is important to perform on any agricultural machine or farm equipment for longevity of that implement. Simple greasing, oil changes, and checking that any chains or other moving components aren’t loose or showing signs of wear will dramatically help lengthen the life of any implement. These machines will last a lifetime with proper use and maintenance.
How does the warranty work and where do I take it for repair?
This baler comes with a manufacturer's one-year defective parts replacement warranty. You can take this baler to just about any agricultural repair shop or service center, as it uses a familiar design. The manufacturer does not cover warranty labor, so if you’re mechanically inclined, you might choose to perform maintenance or service work yourself. Our customer support staff is very knowledgeable about these machines and can assist via phone and/or email support.
Do you have parts on hand if needed?
We stock a wide variety of parts right here in our Indiana warehouse! Some of our parts are available for purchase directly on our website and you can always give us a call for assistance. We are happy to help get you what you need quickly. We offer expedited shipping as well, for those times you need a part as soon as possible.
Does it have an overload protection system?
There are four different shear bolts which break sacrificially to protect a different component of the baler if there is some sort of obstruction. Power is transmitted through the baler mostly with chains and sprockets, but the pickup is powered with a belt. If there is an obstruction in the pickup, the belt will slip to prevent damage to vital components.
What is the shipping charge for this baler?
Due to their size, these balers ship via flatbed truck. Shipping rates are calculated based on distance from our warehouse and are subject to change from time to time depending on fuel prices and shipping rates from carriers. Your sales representative can help provide you with the best rate possible once it’s almost time to have your baler delivered. We also offer free pickup from our warehouse as an option.
How does it ship?
These balers ship on a flatbed trailer. To unload the baler you will back your tractor onto the trailer, hitch the baler up to the tractor, and drive off.
Does it come with twine?
Yes, this baler comes with two rolls of poly twine already installed in the twine chamber for you.
