Ibex TX45 Drum Mower Assembly Advisory
The following assembly tip will prevent damage to your mower this hay season.
The Ibex TX45 Drum Mower is typically shipped with a set of brackets that suspend the drum unit from the frame. These brackets are pictured here:
We have learned that, after assembling the unit, some customers leave these brackets in place or re-attach them. If left in place, the bracket that is under the lift arm can cause problems. During use, the mower is designed to pivot relative to the tractor depending on ground contours. If the drum unit pivots up too high with this bracket in place, it can contact the lift arm causing excessive stress on the machine. A possible failure resulting from this stress is a bend or fracture at the joint where the lift arm attaches to the drum unit.
To prevent this failure:
-
Be sure to remove both shipping brackets. Re-fasten the bolts to secure the guard.
-
Be aware of the height of your tractor 3-point hitch at all times during mowing. Once the appropriate height is set for cutting, do not allow the lift arms to settle over time.
-
Continually work to smooth out any variations in the terrain of your hay field and get rid of critters that tend to create them. All of your equipment will thank you for doing this as well!
-
If you have irregularities in the field, angle up the front of your mower just slightly by lengthening your tractor’s top link. This will help it ride over bumps instead of into them.
